Geza (Gordon) Marich (1913-1985)
Marich was born in Hungary in 1913. He studied art in Budapest and immigrated to Canada in 1957.
Widely collected, Marich painted many different subjects, including the streetscapes of downtown Montreal, Quebec. His paintings are displayed in the National Museum of Art in Budapest, in galleries in Ottawa and Toronto, and in private collections around the world.
His later works evolved towards abstraction, including the extensive use of a palette knife.
