Oil on Canvas - Impressively Captured Restful Ontario Wetlands Scene with Bountiful Floral & Foliage Display Hugging the Waters Edge by Acclaimed Canadian Artist Douglas Edwards (1954- ) - Gold Frame, Linen Mat and Gold Filet - 47" Wide x 35" High
Douglas Edwards is a master of moody, expansive landscapes that arouse memories of familiar places – the ponds, streams, meadows, hills and country roads we know so well. He captures the play of light on colour with an uncanny ability. The Ontario countryside is portrayed under all kinds of skies, in all kinds of weather. In his words, “It’s what you don’t say rather than what you do say that’s important. The suggestion of unfinished edges leaves something to the imagination.” His work can be found in many corporate collections including American Airlines,Delta Hotels, Mazda Canada and Bell Canada.
All his life Douglas Edwards has had a paint brush in his hands. "I have used color and light to express everything in my life.  It is my way to deal with the happiness, sadness, grief and healing of life and to try to reach serenity and fulfillment.  Each painting brings me something new, as a chapter in a book or a pattern of thought and nature.  I endeavor to share my expression of serenity on canvas".
His oil paintings are sold in galleries across North America and has had shows in England, Italy, Sweden and Japan.  He has taught art extensively over the years.  His work is in many prominent private and public collections. He now makes his home in Hamilton, Ontario.
